Work

Howdy kids, I’m still alive. I know you’re all happy to hear that.

So yea. OwlManAtt is now employed as a programmer for DSL.net. So, you know, I’ve actually got stuff to /do/ this summer. Amazing, innit?

Neorus is also back. I am, of course, working on that again.

No more work is being done on Crown at the moment. Too much other stuff going on. Evanion-base has once AGAIN been delayed! Oh well.

And finally, there’s been a bit of activity on the Cybitures front. Check out Tigress’ FAQ, and the one single image she’s showing to the public. The rest of the art is just as GODLY.

TODO

I’ve got quite a few projects to work on. And I’m now going to share what’s on the owlmanattian TODO list. Each item is seen as a seperate project.

  • Install Ubuntu on the new old iBook (liz).
  • Set up Ubuntu on the new old iBook (liz).
  • Get OpenBSD 3.7, install OpenBSD 3.7 on almus.
  • Set up SMTP server, clamav, and spamassasin on almus.
  • Set up POP3 or IMAP (haven’t decided) on almus.
  • Maybe set up Hoarde on almus for webmail? (need apache, php)
  • Finish Evanion-base:
  • Private messages
  • Avatars
  • Admin (user stuff, forum stuff, news stuff, tracking/data relation display)
  • News
  • {s*W} (CoD clan) website (use Evanion-base, add roster functionality and a few other simple hacks).
  • Come up with an idea for NanoWriMo ‘05.
  • SCOSUG site.
  • Marius’ prohject (need to talk to him about that next time he’s on MSN…).
  • Cybitures? Not sure where this one is going…
  • Write a script to parse CoD’s logfile and generate nice stats.
  • Work for DSL.net? I need to talk to John about this Monday…
  • Four Days

Just four more days until school is out. Just four more bloody days. And they’re all early dismissals. Which is good. It’s just finals, which won’t be hard.

So yea. I haven’t been up to much as of late. I’ve got a Call of Duty server running off of ecritters.biz, so if you’ve got CoD, be sure to stop in for some wild CTF action.

I’ve been working on a bit of code, too. Evanion stuff that I meant to do three months ago but started playing Anarchy Online and got sidetracked six ways to hell. I’m almost to the point of doing a game-base release thing. Just news/mail/admin things to add. Yay.

Oh, and if you all remember that fucker br0k3d from back in February for a moment…Yes, the piece of shit that pwnz0r3d the eC server. Well, we met again. This time, he pwnz0r3d John’s box.

And John pwnz0r3d back. He caught the fucker doing things in his box, knocked him off, br0k3d got back in, then got knocked off again. John also sent a complaint to his ISP from abuse at someisp dot com, which will probably carry a tad more weight than a complaint from j_random_jackass at hotmail dot com.

So now John’s server is running Debian, and it’s as happy as can be. Yay Debian!

    Bah.

Well, I haven’t updated in 12 days or so, so I figure I owe you all one. Not to mention the fact that the poor page looks so barren and lonely.

Not been up to much this month. I’ve been playing with perlbox-voice, which is a fancy frontend for sphinx2 and festival. It’s a realtime voice recognition thing, so I can start and stop xmms by shouting at Bell now. Just need to set up the lights to be computer-controlled, hah.

Report card night was thursday, and once again, I get honors. Whoopdey-fucking-do. Again, they invite me to some bullshit awards ceremony, and again I shall refuse to attend.

On the coding front, CoE was accepted as a SourceForge project earlier this week. I’ve already entered into talks with some Russian bloke regarding him taking over the project. You’ll hear more about that as things happen.

And once again, I am forced to remind everyone that I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL FLYING MONKEY/COMPUTER CONSULTANT. I wake up, prod bell and wait for the screen to come up, and have some asshole IM me, not even a full minute after I wake up, and start asking for PHP help. FUCK YOU.

Yep. And on a less important note, I read MegaTokyo today. The whole thing. Go me.

    More tomorrow. I swear.

Update for the sake of updating.

Mm, not much going down. I fixed rambo, so it’s running trustix again. Blablabla.

This sunday is the SCOSUG (new site!) picnic, which I’ll be going to. Oh, I think I forgot to report back on the Debian meeting. Damn, I’ve probably forgotten a lot of it, too. Ah well, here we go.

Steve and John came to pick me up (In Steve’s awesome new SUV) and we went to Innovation. The topic for the night’s presentation was the new Debian installer. The dude giving the presentation was also the perl package maintainer for Debian. (He also maintained a lot of other stuff, which I have forgotten.) He was a pretty cool guy.

He does a debian install for us on the projector screen while he gives the talk. He did the install from inside debian, using VMWare. never knew much about VMWare, so this itself was cool. (Although VMWare told the installer he had some ridiculously large harddrive, which was amusing.)

Nothing to new for me, as I’ve used the installer a thousand times. But I learned that the Debian releases are named after things from Toy Story (A tradition started by Bruce Perkins, if I recall correctly…).

Then we went to dinner at the diner. Mmyep, awesome night.

So yea. I’ve been working on CoE as of late. Added some stuff like events and attacking. Also added the basis for the class system. And Tigress drew some dragons for me.

So before I go, I’ll mention this FPS called Cube. Try it or die.
