Before I get to anything interesting, I’d just like to take a second and note that Kato is now KDE/GNOME free. I am using WindowMaker for my GUI because it seems a lot less bloated (KDE), seems to be stable/fast (GNOME), and is the underdog. I’d also like to make note that several updates have been made to OwlSock, the IRC bot, including the ability to read the output from /usr/games/fortune and say it in the channel. This now requires you to be using a UNIX or UNIX-like operating system and have fortune-mod installed.

And now, on to the interesting bits, reposted from eC.

Thanks to this unlimited amount of free time, I’ve been bored to the point of actualy writing an IRC bot and SSH scanner in PHP. I’ve got absolutely nothing to do, which pretty means means I refresh slashdot every few seconds in hope that some new story will be posted.

And this brings me back to January, a month of late night coding sessions. Of course, the coding I was doing was no small thing, nay! It was my first Crown of Evanion release, which I shut down after it was in a decent stage. I killed the project due to both lack of support and the fact that my coding standards went up as I was finishing the final bits.

So, who can guess where this is leading?

Yes, I once again have some small ambition for the project. I even have that base for it done. But, I want some support this time. People participating. Drawing items. Coding along with me. Making decisions. Shaping the plot. Hell, I’ll start a bloody mailing list and CVS server for it if it makes you happy, although many people might prefer a forum to a mailing list.

It would, of course, be an opensource project.

Anyone think they might be interested in participating, even if it were just helping to make decisions?

Time for a project update. I haven’t given one in a long time. I haven’t even posted in a while. =X

The /cp2 CoE remake was under development, until I got bored and decided to not do anything. Only the regiser, login, logout, and dragon stats pages work. There *is* a lot going on in the background though, so it isn’t like all I did were 5 lines of code.

I’ve also been doing some independent development for kikopets. I wrote them a game, redid two of their scripts, and I’m currently working on a forum. This forum leads me to my next announcement…

I am currently working on OwlForums, another opensource project. The forums will feature the same things as my CoE forums did, except with streamlined backend and a sort of API thing, making it easy to set the forums up for your site.

We also have the SNS. I pretty much forgot all about it. Uhm…Yea.

Oh, and another announcement! I will be redoing this site soon. The code needs some revamping, as I did it when I just started using OO code, so it’s a bit of a mess. I might redo the layout, because it looks horrible in IE. Then again, I might block IE all together and have it show a page on why ANYTHING is better than IE.

Forgot to post yesterday. =X

Well, one of our school’s computers managed to get some nice spyware on it, and the IE homepage was hijacked and set to some site that takes advantage of an(other) IE exploit and craps a virus onto the harddrive. After she removed it with the MacFee anti-virus scanner thing, she opened IE and it came back. Then I spent 20 minutes trying to explain that she needed to reset the IE homepage and do a spyware scan. She didn’t want any advice from an expert though. She just keept removing it and opening IE.

Stargate was good last night. Hamond got reassinged and some idiot who Kinsey picked up off the street replaced them, Great timing, too. They just downloaded another ancient database into Jack’s head, this time with the location of the lost city. Then the old guy comes through the gate and tells them Earth is getting fucked in three days by Anubis.

Also, new episode of mad mad House was on last night. That idiot Kelly got voted out.
